What is The Local Tongue Save Restaurants Initiative?
The Local Tongue Save Restaurants Initiative lets people purchase gift vouchers for restaurants and venues around the world. It’s one way, during these uncertain times, for the dining public to support restaurants, staff and producers affected by the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis.
How Does It Work?
We have created a Save Restaurants page for every venue participating in this initiative. Some venues already have online systems in place to purchase gift vouchers. We will include links to these systems.
Otherwise, there will be a form you can fill out. Please fill it in with your contact details and the value of the gift voucher you’d like to purchase and we’ll forward it to the venue. The venue will then be in touch to arrange payment.
Does The Local Tongue Make Money From Gift Voucher Sales?
No. The Local Tongue does not make a cent from these sales. We do not charge guests or venues for buying a voucher via our Save Restaurants initiative.
Why is The Local Tongue Doing This?
Restaurants, bars, cafes and producers all play important roles within their local communities. We love them. You love them. We all want as many of them as possible to make it through these extraordinary times. By using our platform to support our favourite restaurants around the world, we’re proud to be able to play our role in keeping hospitality alive.
What Happens To My Information?
We hate spam as much as you do. Your contact details will only be used for the purchase of the gift voucher. We won’t pass on your name, email address or any other information on to third parties.
What Happens If I Am Unable To Redeem My Gift Voucher?
Every venue has its own policies on refunds should you be unable to redeem your voucher or the venue closes. Please discuss any concerns directly with each venue. The Local Tongue only connects guests and restaurants so is unable to assist with any queries.
My Venue Isn’t Recommended In Any The Local Tongue Guides. Can I Still Be Involved?

I’m Not In a Position To Buy Vouchers But Want To Help. What Can I Do?
We’re glad you asked. Even if you can’t financially support your favourite venues, you can show them some love via social media as well as share details of this initiative. Please share images via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social media platforms, tag The Local Tongue and use the hashtag #saverestaurants.
